Constructed by Yusuf Adil Shah, the Sultan of Bijapur, this palace displays marvelous architecture. Its architectural design has been drawn inspiration from both Hindu and Muslim architecture. This Palace is been seen as mark of Adil Shah and his rule over the place. He had constructed this palace as a memoir of his rule before leaving the state.
It was used as the residing place of the Portuguese Governor till 1696. However, in the year of 1820, it was demolished to give way to construction of other houses. Prior to this, this palace used to be the most popular tourist spot of Goa, attracting every visitor with its spectacular beauty.
Once displaying stunning architecture, now the palace is left with only a few basalt pillars and a horizontal beam. However, for those of you who would love to explore the traces of history this is an ideal place to visit.
