Day 1: Arrival, Check-in & North Goa Sightseeing

Upon arrival at the Goa airport or railway station, you'll be transferred to your hotel for check-in. After freshening up, you can begin exploring the heritage sites in Goa.

• Basilica of Bom Jesus- Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that holds the remains of St. Francis Xavier, Goa's patron saint. Built in 1605, it’s one of the oldest churches in Goa. Its baroque facade, left unplastered on one side, is considered one of the finest examples of Portuguese-era religious architecture in the region.
• Se Cathedral- Se Cathedral stands just across from the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa, and it’s a must-visit place on an Old Goa tour. Dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria, it’s said to be one of the largest churches in Asia. Its large Golden Bell is still rung on special occasions.
• Archaeological Museum of Goa- The Archaeological Museum of Goa is located next to the Se Cathedral, and it’s an important part of this North Goa tour itinerary. And the bell inside is among the largest in Goa, second only to the Basilica of Bom Jesus.
• Fontainhas- Fontainhas is a heritage neighbourhood near Altinho Hill in Panjim. It’s one of the best-preserved Latin quarters in India and the highlight of this North Goa heritage tour. Its narrow lanes are lined with pastel-coloured houses, wrought-iron balconies and cobbled streets that carry the vibrant soul of Portuguese Goa. • Reis Magos Fort- Reis Magos Fort sits on a hillside across the Mandovi River from Panjim. Constructed in 1551 by the Portuguese, it's one of the oldest forts in Goa. It was built primarily to guard the narrowest point at the mouth of the Mandovi. After recent restoration, its whitewashed ramparts and terraced layout now serve as a small heritage gallery.
• Fort Aguada- Fort Aguada is a 17th-century Portuguese fort built at the confluence of the Mandovi River and the Arabian Sea. While the fort was constructed as a freshwater station for passing ships, it also had an intricate defence system. The views from here include much of the North Goa coastline and the neighbouring villages. The four-storey lighthouse nearby is also worth checking out.
• Chapora Fort- Chapora Fort is located on a headland above the Chapora River. It was built in the 18th century over the remains of an earlier Adil Shah structure. Even though its walls have weathered down, the climb up rewards you with one of the most expansive panoramas in all of Goa.
