Itinerary
Itinerary of Regal Goa Sawantwadi Heritage Tour Package for 4 Days & 3 Nights
Day 1: Arrival, Check-in & Goa Sightseeing
Upon arrival at Goa airport or railway station, you'll be transferred to your hotel for check-in. After freshening up, you can head out for Goa sightseeing.
- Fontainhas- Fontainhas is an old Latin quarter, at the foot of Altinho Hill in Panjim. Its narrow lanes are lined with pastel-coloured houses, wrought-iron balconies and red-tiled roofs that still carry a distinctly Portuguese character. Walking through this heritage neighbourhood is the best way to explore it.
- Miramar Beach- Miramar Beach stretches along the mouth of the Mandovi River near Panjim. It's a wide, open beach with a laid-back feel, popular with locals for morning and evening walks. It's also an ideal spot to enjoy sea views, with makeshift shops allowing shopping opportunities.
- Mandovi River Promenade- Mandovi River Promenade runs along the riverfront in Panjim, offering a captivating evening stroll. Every step reveals a new treasure, from heritage buildings to artsy structures. As evening sets in, the soft glow of lights dances across the water.
Day 2: Goa Sightseeing
After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a full day of sightseeing across Goa.
- Basilica of Bom Jesus- Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Old Goa. Built in 1605, it’s a Baroque-style church holding the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. The gilded altar and centuries-old, elegant architecture make it a must-visit destination in Goa.
- Se Cathedral- Se Cathedral stands close to the Basilica in Old Goa, and it’s one of the largest churches in Asia. Dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria, its vast interior and towering facade reflect the scale of Goa's colonial past. The church is known for its Golden Bell, one of the finest in the world.
- Shri Mangueshi Temple- Shri Mangueshi Temple is one of the most revered Shiva temples in Goa. Its whitewashed facade and ornate interiors reflect a mix of traditional Goan Hindu and Portuguese-influenced architecture. Its distinctive seven-storeyed deepstambha (lamp tower) is a landmark in itself.
- Shri Shantadurga Temple- Shri Shantadurga Temple is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Goddess Durga. It follows the Saraswat style of architecture with a hint of Roman architectural touch. Located amid wooded hills, it’s one of the most serene heritage destinations on this Goa Sawantwadi tour.
Day 3: Transfer to Sawantwadi & Sawantwadi Sightseeing
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and begin the drive to Sawantwadi. In Sawantwadi, transfer to your hotel and check in.
- Sawantwadi Palace- Sawantwadi Palace, colloquially known as the Rajwada, is a major attraction on this Goa Sawantwadi heritage tour. It’s a two-storeyed palace that’s located in the very heart of the town. Built by Khem Sawant Bhonsle in the 18th century, it remains the seat of the Bhonsle royal family.
- Chitar Aali- Chitar Aali (or Chitari Aali) is a lane of workshops just uphill from the palace. It’s home to the Chitari community's centuries-old craft of designing wooden wonders. It’s a treat for the eyes, with a variety of colourful handicrafts, including wooden fruits, puppets, ganjifa cards and many other things. Nageshwar Temple- Nageshwar Temple is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Set a little away from the town's bustle, this temple has a calm, contemplative atmosphere. Even though it’s relatively small, this temple is considered one of the revered shrines of the Sawantwadi region.
- Moti Talao- Moti Talao is a picturesque lake sitting right in front of the Sawantwadi Palace. Illuminated fountains and streetlights in the evening, and the reflection of the palace lights on the water make it a pretty stop. Boating is available for those who want to spend some time on its waters.
Day 4: Return to Goa & Departure
After breakfast at the hotel, check out for your drive back to Goa. We’ll do some sightseeing on the way, if time permits, before your return journey.
- Raghunath Market- Raghunath Market is Sawantwadi's main bazaar. It’s a lively stretch with shops having everything from fresh produce to Konkani spices and household goods. It's an excellent place to soak in the everyday rhythm of the town and buy some of the best handicrafts of the Konkani culture.
- Shree Bhagavati Temple- Shree Bhagavati Temple, dedicated to Goddess Bhagavati, is an old temple close to Goa. It boasts over 500 years of history, devotion and architectural brilliance. This visit brings the Regal 4 Days & 3 Nights Goa Sawantwadi Heritage Tour Package to a spiritual closure.
At the end of the tour, we'll drop you at the Goa airport or railway station for your onward journey.
